BBQ’s, water fights, sun and open doors.

There is a strange kind of silence that hangs in the air today, like a mist it hovers filling every corner of every room, after the fun of the weekend my house lays empty.

After our big adventure on Friday I decided to hold a BBQ party on Saturday, both nephews, my sister, brother in law, friend, baby, parents and various other family members and friends.

I got water guns for my nephews, who took great delight in ambushing unsuspecting guests as they arrived, though I think the adults had more fun with the water guns than the children!

I managed to surprise myself by knocking together my own style BBQ food, making marinades for the meats, my own burgers and lamb kofta as well as various dips and salads.

Fun afternoon in the garden, we ate, drank, played and caught up, no hassle, no strife and all there for the right reasons, not going through motions all very real.

I miss that busy life and so much in there was missed, so often we see with eyes that do not see, feel with hearts that do not feel and miss the things that matter, the true and pure beauty while searching for something else.

There are rights and wrongs in everything, in every part of life, but does it really matter? What matters is the time we share or shared, the things achieved and not those lost as even that which is lost can be found.

Unlocking doors, rather than closing them opens up a whole new world and allows those to follow, like my friend when she needs that, whilst at the same time leaving behind the clutter that does not matter, the rights, the wrongs, the petty bullshit of yesterday and focusing on what matters, that we live, that we learn and strive to do better as people, for those from our past and those from our future.

After a busy few days, at a loss now as what to do with myself!

Loved this post Duma, Family togetherness is so important, and there is nothing better than a BBQ for bringing everyone together, Good food, wine, and conversation along with playing games with the youngsters all makes for a Happy Day…

I did something similar on the Solstice weekend it was Hubbies Birthday.. Great time had by all… Topped off with Good Weather makes for Happy memories that are being created to last us through those rainy days.. πŸ™‚

You also sound to be a great hand at knowing your way around the BBQ Kitchen πŸ™‚ I bought a little BBQ hand book from The Works shop, great tips and recipe ideas, and I too did a Marinade .. πŸ˜€ Wishing you a Great Week..

I like the open door policy…..never know what may pop in…and the day sounded very fun….here on July 4th we always attend a cookout at a friends and they have an annual water balloon fight….small kiddie pools spread throughout the yard…each filled with water and balloons….they fill hundreds of them in preparation….and then the battle….lol….is such a great time whether water guns or balloons….laughter is always good for the soul….
